Het Waterloo van Links

Satirisch Jaaroverzicht 2015

On 16 December 2015 Bepact kicks off and organizes its first event. For this special occasion Ivan De Vadder, Karl Meersman and Jan De Smet present their unique annual review 2015 for the first time.

Ivan De Vadder plays as a political journalist with the cartoons of Karl from 2015. In his search for connections he unravels the events of the past year. Ivan De Vadder’s political analysis goes hand in hand with Karl Meersman’s satire. As an illustrator Karl draws every week two cartoons, one for Trends and another one for Knack Focus. Jan De Smet functions as the perfect link between word and image thanks to his humour and satirical songs.

Karl Meersman

cartoonist Trends & Focus Knack

Karl Meersman became quickly well-known as a graphic artist but was very attracted to satire and the political cartoons of the late 19th century. Karl did his first drawing for the Belgian financial weekly Trends in 1987. These days Karl is still the in-house artist at Trends, Knack Focus and Knack. Besides his editorial cartoons, Karl has in recent years increasingly focused on his own work, exhibitions and books.
